welp, my mom's laptop running linux mint updated around an hour ago, which included a kernel update, and somehow it seems as if it's bricked the entire machine. it won't get past the boot logo, and trying to boot to BIOS settings and the boot menu won't work. trying to boot via USB also won't work. i have no idea how this even happened, i've never heard of a kernel update somehow bricking the entire machine. it is a fairly old toshiba laptop, so idk if it just couldn't handle it and completely destroyed itself? has anyone ever seen something like this happen before? please boost for exposure, i really need to get this fixed pretty urgently ._.

@mjdxp I haven't heard of that before however, is there any light on it (e.g. cap lock key). I recently had issues with an LG laptop and I noticed that the cap lock light was blinking. When I look it up I found out that different light sequences were used to show different issues. Using the light sequence mine was giving I found out that the BIOS needed to be reloaded.
